The Jharkhand unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party announced a plan to surround the District Collector and State Police offices from September 8, protesting legal cases filed against students.
The Jharkhand branch of the Bharatiya Janata Party said it will begin a gherao of the District Collector's office and the State Police headquarters on September 8. The protest is aimed at the criminal cases that have been registered against a group of students, which the party claims are politically motivated.
Party leaders argued that the cases are an attempt to intimidate young people and disrupt their education. They urged the administration to withdraw the charges and promised to mobilise party workers and supporters to pressurise the officials.
The District Collector and the State Police have not issued an official response yet, but security arrangements are expected to be tightened to prevent any disruption of public services. Law‑enforcement agencies have warned that any attempt to block access to government offices could lead to legal action.
If the gherao proceeds as planned, it could temporarily affect the functioning of the district administration and police operations, prompting the state government to consider additional measures to maintain order.
