The India Meteorological Department has issued a weather outlook calling for rain and strong winds in the eastern, southern and northeastern regions through October 7, while the monsoon continues to withdraw from northern India.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) released its latest weather outlook, warning of rain and strong winds across the eastern, southern and northeastern parts of the country until October 7. The advisory highlights the likelihood of widespread showers in states such as West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and the eight Northeastern states, accompanied by gusty conditions that could affect travel and outdoor activities.
While the southeast and northeast brace for wet weather, the monsoon trough is steadily receding from the northern belt. Areas in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and parts of Uttar Pradesh are experiencing drier conditions as the monsoon withdrawal progresses.
IMD has urged residents in the affected zones to monitor updates, avoid flood‑prone low‑lying areas, and follow instructions from local authorities. The department will continue to issue periodic bulletins as the situation evolves.
