The Enforcement Directorate has opened a probe into allegations that a suspended IAS officer from Tripura was involved in a Rs 44‑crore tender fraud.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has announced a formal investigation into a Rs 44‑crore tender fraud case involving a suspended Indian Administrative Service officer from Tripura.

According to the ED, the officer is accused of manipulating the tender process to divert public funds. The alleged fraud amounts to approximately 44 crore rupees, a significant sum that has raised concerns about the integrity of state procurement.

The IAS officer was suspended earlier this year following preliminary findings that suggested irregularities in the tendering procedure. The suspension came after the state government received reports of possible malfeasance.

The ED will conduct a thorough inquiry, which may include asset searches, examination of financial records, and interviews with relevant officials. The outcome of the probe could lead to criminal charges if the allegations are substantiated.
