The coastal town of Dahanu in Maharashtra reached 35.7°C, the highest temperature recorded in the state today, according to the latest weather update.

The Maharashtra Meteorological Department reported that Dahanu, a coastal town north of Mumbai, recorded a maximum temperature of 35.7 degrees Celsius on Thursday, making it the hottest point in the state for the day.

The reading surpassed temperatures in other major cities such as Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur, which hovered in the low‑30s. Meteorologists attribute the spike to a combination of clear skies, low humidity and a north‑east wind pattern that has intensified heat across the western coastal belt.

Local authorities have issued heat‑related advisories, urging residents to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak hours and seek shade. Schools in the area are monitoring indoor temperatures, and some have adjusted class timings to mitigate the impact on students.

The state’s weather office warned that the high temperature could persist for the next 48 hours, especially in low‑lying coastal zones, and asked the public to remain vigilant for signs of heat‑related illnesses.
