In Baitul district, women whose families have been devastated by illicit liquor have taken the lead in a protest, demanding police action against the widespread illegal trade.
A wave of illegal liquor production and distribution has been reported in the Daurawa area of Baitul district, Madhya Pradesh. According to local residents, the trade has moved beyond a few dealers to a network that stores illicit liquor in households across the region.
Women from several affected families approached the police, alleging that the consumption of the unregulated spirit has led to financial ruin, health problems, and social distress. Frustrated by what they perceive as inadequate response, the women organized a public rally to draw attention to the issue.
The protest, held near the district police station, featured placards demanding stricter enforcement and the seizure of illegal stockpiles. Authorities have acknowledged the complaint and said they will intensify inspections, though no arrests have been reported so far.
