State Minister Tinku Roy announced that women account for seven lakh of the eleven lakh Jan Dhan accounts opened in Tripura, highlighting the state's progress in financial inclusion for women.
Tripura’s Jan Dhan Yojana has reached a milestone, with a total of 11 lakh accounts opened across the state. According to Minister Tinku Roy, women now hold seven lakh of these accounts, indicating that roughly 64% of the state’s financial inclusion beneficiaries are female.
The minister highlighted the achievement as evidence of the government’s focused outreach programmes that encourage women to open bank accounts, access credit and benefit from direct benefit transfers. He added that the high proportion of women account holders reflects growing awareness and trust in formal banking channels among the state’s female population.
Officials said the data underscores Tripura’s commitment to the national financial inclusion agenda and will guide further policy measures aimed at expanding digital financial services for women in rural and urban areas alike.
