Two engineering students died after they came into contact with a live electric fence on a campus in Telangana, officials said.
Two engineering students lost their lives after accidentally touching a live electric fence installed around a campus in Telangana, the state police confirmed. The incident occurred on Monday morning, and both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to campus authorities, the fence was part of a security system meant to deter trespassing. Preliminary investigations suggest the fence was energized at a voltage high enough to cause fatal injuries upon contact.
Police have launched a probe to determine whether safety protocols were breached and if the fence was properly marked. The college administration expressed grief, promised cooperation with investigators, and said it would review its safety measures to prevent future tragedies.
The families of the deceased have been informed, and a formal condolence ceremony is being arranged by the institution.
State officials have urged educational institutions to audit electrical installations and ensure clear signage to safeguard students and staff.
