Thousands gather at Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar Temple for Baba Mahakal’s special adornment

On Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha Tritiya, the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain displayed Baba Mahakal adorned with Trinetra, sun‑moon motifs and bel leaves, attracting a massive crowd of devotees.
Ujjain’s ancient Mahakaleshwar Temple observed a special puja on the third day of the waning phase of Bhadrapada, presenting Baba Mahakal in an elaborate decoration. The deity was embellished with the iconic Trinetra, alongside symbolic sun and moon ornaments and fresh bel (bael) leaves, a traditional offering in Shaivite worship.
The ornate arrangement was intended to honor the cosmic aspects of Lord Shiva, with the three‑eyed figure representing his all‑seeing nature and the celestial symbols underscoring his dominion over time and the universe. Devotees consider the combination of these motifs especially auspicious during this period.
