In a statement released on 27 October 2023, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy likened Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the mythological figure Ravana and referred to the Congress party as the 'Vanara Sena'.
The comparison draws on the symbolic weight of Ravana, a character known for his strength and moral complexity in Indian epics, while the term 'Vanara Sena' evokes the monkey army that opposed the hero Rama in the Ramayana.
Reddy, a senior leader of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, has often employed vivid metaphors in his speeches to underscore political rivalries. His remarks are part of a broader pattern of provocative commentary that has characterized his tenure.
The statements have attracted attention from political commentators and media outlets, prompting discussions about the use of mythological references in contemporary politics.
