Tamil Nadu government, in partnership with Digital Bharat Nidhi and TANFINET, has signed an agreement to harness the BharatNet broadband network across the state.
The Government of Tamil Nadu has entered into a formal agreement with Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN), the Department of Telecommunications, and TANFINET to utilize the BharatNet broadband infrastructure within the state.
Under the pact, DBN and TANFINET will collaborate with state authorities to roll out and manage the BharatNet network, aiming to extend high‑speed internet connectivity to underserved areas.
The initiative is expected to support digital inclusion efforts, improve access to e‑services, and foster economic development by bridging the digital divide across rural and semi‑urban regions.
This partnership aligns with the central government’s vision of a digitally empowered India and reinforces Tamil Nadu’s commitment to expanding broadband coverage statewide.
