Sanitation workers across Tamil Nadu have suspended their strike after the state government agreed to 8 of the 10 demands raised by the workers. The protest, which began last week, had caused significant disruptions to city services, including garbage collection and street cleaning.
The agreed‑upon demands include a 15% wage hike, provision of personal protective equipment, and improved working hours. The workers also sought better safety protocols and a formal grievance redressal mechanism.
