West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced a one‑time ₹5,000 payment and an extra 50‑kilogram ration to 20,000 workers whose tea gardens have been closed.

The West Bengal government has announced financial relief for workers in tea gardens that have been shut down due to economic pressures. 20,000 employees who were laid off will receive a one‑time cash payment of ₹5,000 each. In addition, the state will provide an extra 50‑kilogram ration of food grains to each worker to help meet basic nutritional needs. The move is part of a broader effort by the administration to support vulnerable workers in the tea industry and mitigate the impact of the closures.
