Sony Pictures has officially come on board to produce Destin Daniel Cretton’s live‑action adaptation of the popular Naruto franchise.
Sony Pictures announced its involvement in the upcoming live‑action version of the Japanese manga and anime series Naruto. The studio will co‑produce the film under the direction of American filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton, known for his work on high‑profile projects.
Cretton, who previously directed the Marvel superhero movie "Shang‑Chi," is slated to helm the adaptation, aiming to translate the iconic ninja world to a global cinematic audience. Sony’s participation signals strong backing and resources for the venture, which has generated considerable interest among fans worldwide.
The partnership marks a notable step for the franchise, which has long been a staple of pop culture in India and abroad. While details such as casting and release dates remain under wraps, industry observers anticipate that Sony’s distribution network will help the film reach a broad market, potentially expanding Naruto’s fan base further.
Stakeholders from both the Japanese source material and Hollywood are expected to collaborate closely to preserve the series’ core themes while adapting them for a live‑action format. The project’s progress will be closely watched as a benchmark for future adaptations of anime properties.
