Rescue operations halted at Odisha landslide site as families prepare for final rites

Rescue personnel have suspended all operations at the landslide-affected area in Odisha following the recent disaster. Officials cited safety concerns and the need to prevent further casualties as the primary reasons for the halt.

Families of those trapped or missing are now congregating at the site to make arrangements for the final rites. Local community members are assisting in gathering belongings and preparing the area for the ceremonies.

Authorities have promised to continue monitoring the site and to provide support to the grieving families, while also assessing the feasibility of resuming rescue efforts in the future.

The incident underscores the vulnerability of hilly regions in the state during the monsoon season, prompting calls for improved early warning and landslide mitigation measures.
