Rain interrupted the India‑New Zealand contest, ending New Zealand's bid to overtake India in a low‑scoring thriller.
A rain‑affected encounter between India and New Zealand turned into a low‑scoring thriller, with the weather ultimately deciding the outcome. The Black Caps were mounting a chase that could have swung the match in their favour, but persistent showers forced play to halt.
India, having set a modest total, held their nerve as the rain delayed the New Zealand innings. When play resumed, the limited overs left were insufficient for the Black Caps to mount a full response, and the match concluded with India declared the winner.
The result adds a crucial point for India in the ongoing series, while New Zealand will look to regroup ahead of their next fixtures. Officials confirmed that the decision was made in accordance with the tournament’s rain‑rule protocols.
