Ankita Bhandari’s parents arrived at Rajghat on Wednesday to observe a silent fast demanding justice, and were escorted by Delhi police.
On Wednesday, the parents of Ankita Bhandari, a young woman whose murder case has drawn widespread attention, arrived at Rajghat in Delhi to observe a silent fast demanding that the investigation be accelerated. The couple stood at the memorial site, a symbolic location for public protests, and refrained from speaking as a form of peaceful protest.
Delhi police arrived shortly after and escorted the pair away from the site, citing concerns for their safety and the need to maintain public order. The police presence was reported to be part of standard protocol for gatherings at high‑traffic public spaces.
Activist Yogita Bhayana, who has been vocal about the case, questioned the police’s decision to remove the grieving parents, suggesting that the action could suppress the families’ right to protest. The incident has sparked discussion on how authorities handle public demonstrations linked to high‑profile criminal cases.
