From today, the National Stock Exchange’s pre‑open session will be conducted in multiple phases between 9:00 am and 9:15 am, impacting trading in equities, SME, InvITs and REITs.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) announced a structural change to its pre‑open trading window, effective from today. The nine‑to‑nine‑fifteen a.m. slot will now be divided into distinct phases rather than a single continuous period.
The phased approach is intended to streamline order flow and provide clearer price discovery for market participants. It applies to all securities that trade during the pre‑open, including equity shares, Small‑and‑Medium Enterprise (SME) listings, Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs) and Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs).
Investors and brokers are advised to adjust their order‑placement strategies to align with the new timings of each phase. Failure to do so could result in orders being rejected or delayed.
NSE communicated the amendment through an official notice, emphasizing that the change is mandatory and will be monitored for compliance. The exchange will review the impact of the phased pre‑open in the coming weeks.
