Newborn Elephant Rescued from Teesta River; Viral Hug Reveals Elephant Bonding

Earlier this week, wildlife authorities rescued a newborn elephant from the Teesta River after it was spotted struggling in the water. The calf was found in a shallow section of the river, where it had become separated from its herd. A video of the newborn giving a gentle hug to a nearby adult elephant quickly went viral, drawing attention from conservationists and the general public alike. Scientists say the hug demonstrates the strong social bonds that elephants form from birth, which can be crucial for the calf’s survival and learning of essential skills.
