A freshly released poster for the upcoming Ramayana series, starring Ranbir Kapoor alongside veteran actor Arun Govil, has sparked online debate over its digitally altered appearance.
The production house behind the much‑anticipated television adaptation of the Ramayana unveiled a new promotional poster on Monday. The visual prominently features Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor alongside Arun Govil, who famously portrayed Lord Rama in the 1988 television classic.
Within hours of its release, the poster generated a wave of comments on social media platforms. Viewers questioned the realism of the images, with many echoing the headline phrase “Why they’re looking so artificial?” and suggesting that heavy digital retouching had been applied.
The series’ creators have not yet responded to the criticism, but such scrutiny is common for high‑profile mythological projects that rely heavily on visual effects. The debate underscores the heightened expectations of Indian audiences for authenticity in portrayals of revered epics.
