The government has officially notified a new national highway that will connect Assam with Arunachal Pradesh, aiming to improve connectivity and boost regional development.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued a formal notification for a new national highway that will run between the states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. The route is expected to link key districts in both states, providing a direct road corridor that was previously missing.
Officials said the highway will facilitate smoother movement of goods and passengers, reducing travel time and transportation costs for businesses and commuters alike. Enhanced road connectivity is also projected to attract investment in tourism, agriculture and small‑scale industries along the corridor.
Strategic considerations were highlighted, as the road will improve access to remote border areas of Arunachal Pradesh, strengthening both civilian and defence logistics. The project will be undertaken under existing central schemes for infrastructure development, with land acquisition and environmental clearances proceeding as per standard procedures.
The notification marks a significant step in the government's broader plan to upgrade the national highway network in the Northeast, aiming to integrate the region more closely with the rest of the country.
