The Meghalaya government has waived the requirement for Finance Department approval for Grade‑I employees' medical air travel, allowing them to book flights directly.
The Meghalaya state government announced a policy change that eliminates the need for Finance Department clearance for Grade‑I civil servants travelling by air for medical reasons.
Under the new directive, Grade‑I employees can directly book air tickets for treatment‑related travel without prior financial approval, aiming to expedite urgent medical evacuations and reduce bureaucratic delays.
The decision, issued jointly by the Finance and Health departments, is expected to benefit senior officials who often require swift access to specialized healthcare facilities outside the state.
Officials said the measure will take effect immediately, while existing travel protocols will remain unchanged for other grades and for non‑medical trips.
The move reflects the state's broader effort to improve employee welfare and streamline administrative procedures.
