The Madhya Pradesh High Court directed that about 23,000 Gram Rozgar Sahayaks receive travel and other mandatory allowances when transferred, and asked the state to frame a policy on transfer and residence benefits within six months.
Madhya Pradesh High Court delivered a landmark judgment granting relief to roughly 23,000 Gram Rozgar Sahayaks employed across the state. The court ordered that every assistant who is transferred to a new posting receive a travel allowance along with other statutory benefits.
In addition to the immediate relief, the bench directed the state government to draft a comprehensive policy covering transfer and residence allowances within the next six months. The policy must standardise the quantum of benefits and the procedure for disbursement, ensuring uniformity across districts.
The ruling addresses long‑standing grievances of the rural employment assistants, who have previously complained of irregular or missing allowances. Officials have been instructed to implement the order without delay and to submit a compliance report to the court.
State authorities indicated that they will review existing guidelines and align them with the court's directives, aiming to streamline administrative processes and improve morale among the village‑level workforce.
