The Karnataka government has discovered that some E20 petrol batches contain up to 31.2% ethanol, exceeding the permissible limit, and is demanding compensation from consumers.

The Karnataka fuel quality control agency tested E20 petrol samples and found that the ethanol content in certain batches reached 31.2%, well above the standard 20% limit.
The state government has announced a compensation scheme for consumers who purchased the affected petrol, citing consumer protection laws.
The agency warned that the deviation could impact vehicle performance and fuel economy, urging consumers to report any anomalies.
Karnataka will coordinate with fuel distributors and the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization to rectify the issue and prevent future occurrences.
