A man from Kanpur was arrested by Delhi police after he called his friend threatening a bomb blast in the capital. The investigation revealed the call was a prank intended to scare the friend.

Delhi police arrested Suraj Varma, a resident of Kanpur, after he called his friend Sumant Kumar threatening a bomb blast in the national capital. The call was traced to a number registered in Kanpur and was intercepted by the police’s surveillance system.

During the investigation, authorities discovered that the threat was not genuine. Varma had made the call as a prank to scare his friend, and no bomb or explosive device was involved. The incident was reported to the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch, which acted swiftly to detain the suspect.

Varma faces charges under the Explosive Substances Act and the Prevention of Terrorism Act. He was taken into custody at a Kanpur police station and is awaiting further legal proceedings.

The Delhi Police have reiterated that any threat of violence, even if made in jest, is treated seriously and can lead to criminal prosecution.
