JP Nadda, Sakina Itoo Review Progress of AIIMS Awantipora; Focus on Expediting Kashmir’s Upcoming Tertiary Healthcare Institute
Awantipora, November 5: Hon’ble Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda Ji, along with Hon’ble Cabinet Minister for Health & Medical Education and Social Welfare, J&K, Miss Sakina Itoo, today reviewed the progress of the upcoming All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Awantipora, Kashmir, to assess the status of this prestigious healthcare project and review the pace of its implementation.
During the review, the Ministers took stock of the ongoing developmental works, infrastructure readiness and other key aspects associated with the establishment of the premier tertiary care institution. The review aimed at assessing the progress achieved so far and ensuring focused attention towards expediting the project.
Miss Sakina Itoo warmly welcomed the Hon’ble Union Health Minister, Shri J.P. Nadda Ji, and acknowledged the importance of the Union Government’s continued support in strengthening Jammu and Kashmir’s healthcare infrastructure.
The AIIMS Awantipora project holds immense significance for the people of Kashmir and neighbouring regions, as it is envisioned to emerge as a major centre for advanced medical treatment, specialised healthcare services, medical education and research.
The establishment of AIIMS Awantipora is expected to significantly enhance the region’s tertiary healthcare capabilities, reduce the need for patients to travel outside Jammu and Kashmir for specialised treatment and provide a major boost to the overall healthcare delivery system.
The review reflects the continued commitment of the Union and J&K Governments towards strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring access to quality, affordable and advanced medical facilities for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
