Police in Jaipur busted a gang that refilled petrol and diesel on vehicles fitted with stolen licence plates and fled without paying, arresting two suspects from Lakshmangarh, Sikar.
Jaipur police have uncovered a fuel‑fraud ring that was siphoning petrol and diesel by attaching stolen vehicle registration plates to unsuspecting cars. The scheme allowed the gang to fill up fuel at stations and drive away without settling the bill.
Investigators said the perpetrators would replace a vehicle's genuine number plate with a stolen one, present the altered vehicle at fuel pumps, and then escape before the attendant could collect payment. The fraud not only caused financial loss to fuel stations but also raised safety concerns over tampered vehicle identification.
The operation culminated in the arrest of two suspects who were traced back to Lakshmangarh in Sikar district. Both men were taken into custody after police linked them to multiple fuel‑theft incidents reported across Jaipur.
Senior police officials confirmed that the case is still under investigation and that additional arrests may follow as they continue to examine the network and recover any unpaid dues.
