Facing low rainfall and declining groundwater, Indore’s municipal authorities have begun strict enforcement against water wastage, with an M.I.C member confronting illegal water flow in Ward 32.
The Indore Municipal Corporation has launched a stringent campaign to curb water wastage after the city recorded below‑average rainfall and a noticeable drop in groundwater levels. Officials say the scarcity threatens domestic supply and has prompted immediate action to prevent any loss of the limited resource.
During a routine inspection in Ward 32, a member of the Municipal Inspection Committee (M.I.C) descended onto the streets to assess compliance. The official expressed strong displeasure at several public taps that were left uncovered, allowing water to spill onto the road and flow into drainage channels.
The M.I.C member warned that such negligence would attract penalties and urged residents and local bodies to install proper tap covers, known locally as “toti,” to stop runoff. The corporation plans to continue spot checks across other wards to ensure adherence to the new water‑conservation directives.
