The Indian Meteorological Department today forecasted another low‑pressure area forming over the Bay of Bengal, following the recent Cyclone Arnab.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) released an advisory today indicating the development of a new low‑pressure area (LoPAR) over the Bay of Bengal. The system is expected to organize further as it moves westward, with the possibility of intensifying into a depression within the next 48 hours.

Meteorologists noted that the LoPAR follows closely on the heels of Cyclone Arnab, which earlier in the week caused heavy rains along the eastern coastline. While the current disturbance is still weak, IMD has warned coastal states to remain vigilant for sudden squalls and localized flooding.

The department has advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the open sea until the system weakens or moves away. Residents in low‑lying coastal districts are also urged to keep emergency kits ready and monitor updates from local authorities.

IMD will continue to issue regular bulletins as the system evolves, providing forecasts on wind speed, rainfall intensity, and potential impact zones.
