The India Meteorological Department has issued a forecast of rainfall across Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand over the coming days, prompting alerts for commuters and farmers.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) released its latest weather outlook, indicating that moderate to heavy rain is expected in the national capital Delhi as well as in the hill states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand over the next few days. The department warned that the showers could intensify during the evening hours, especially in the foothill regions, and advised residents to stay prepared for possible waterlogging.
Meteorologists highlighted that the western disturbances moving across the Himalayas are the primary drivers of the upcoming precipitation. While the forecast focuses on the three regions, the IMD has not yet provided a detailed outlook for the northeastern states, leaving residents there awaiting further updates.
Authorities in Delhi have already issued advisories for commuters, urging them to check traffic updates and avoid non-essential travel during peak rain periods. In Himachal and Uttarakhand, local administrations are monitoring the situation to mitigate landslide risks and to ensure that agricultural activities are not severely impacted.
The IMD will continue to update its predictions as the weather system evolves, and it is expected to release a more comprehensive bulletin covering the rest of the country later this week.
