The Indian Institute of Technology Ropar has inaugurated a new Centre for Yogic Sciences and Holistic Development, aiming to integrate traditional yoga research with modern scientific methods.
The Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar) recently inaugurated its Centre for Yogic Sciences and Holistic Development on the campus in Rupnagar, Punjab. The centre is positioned as a dedicated hub for systematic study of yoga, its physiological impacts, and its applications in health and wellness.
Designed as an interdisciplinary platform, the centre will bring together experts from engineering, life sciences, and humanities to explore yoga through both traditional scholarship and contemporary scientific techniques. It plans to conduct research projects, develop curricula, and host workshops that bridge ancient practices with modern technology.
IIT Ropar expects the centre to contribute to national objectives of promoting preventive health, enhancing mental well‑being, and fostering innovative educational programs. Collaborations with government health agencies and other academic institutions are being pursued to broaden the reach of its findings.
