The Hello मन initiative has started delivering mental health services to isolated communities in Sikkim, aiming to bridge the care gap in the state’s hilly regions.
Hello मन, a mental‑health outreach program, has begun operating in the most inaccessible villages of Sikkim. The effort focuses on providing counseling, screening and basic psychiatric care to residents who previously had limited or no access to such services.
The programme deploys mobile health units equipped with trained psychologists and uses tele‑medicine platforms to connect patients with specialists in larger hospitals. Local health workers have been trained to identify early signs of mental distress and refer cases to the mobile teams.
State health officials have welcomed the initiative, noting that the rugged terrain of Sikkim has long hindered regular mental‑health outreach. They expect the project to reduce untreated mental‑illness cases and improve overall community well‑being.
Funding for Hello मन comes from a combination of state health budgets and private philanthropy, with plans to expand the service to additional remote blocks over the next year.
