A hacker collective says it has accessed 8.63 million email accounts of the Rajasthan police. State officials have opened a probe into the alleged cyber‑intrusion.

A self‑identified hacker group has publicly asserted that it succeeded in infiltrating the email system of the Rajasthan police, compromising roughly 8.63 million accounts. The claim was posted on the group’s online platform, where it provided limited technical details but did not release any of the purported email contents.

The Rajasthan Home Department confirmed that it is treating the allegation as a serious cyber‑security breach and has launched an internal investigation. Officials said they are coordinating with national cyber‑crime agencies to verify the authenticity of the claim and to assess any potential exposure of sensitive information.

At this stage, the police have not disclosed whether any data has been misused or whether the breach has impacted ongoing investigations. The department has urged its personnel to remain vigilant, change passwords, and follow standard security protocols while the probe proceeds.

Cyber‑security experts note that large‑scale email compromises are often used to harvest credentials for further attacks, underscoring the need for robust encryption and multi‑factor authentication across law‑enforcement networks.
