An accident on the Dehradun‑Delhi highway resulted in a container truck overturning onto a passing i20 car. The collision caused the vehicle to be crushed, leading to four fatalities among the occupants of the i20.
Emergency services arrived quickly at the scene and began rescue operations. While the injured were taken to nearby hospitals, rescuers were able to pull a six‑year‑old child from the wreckage unharmed.
Police have opened an investigation to determine the cause of the truck’s overturn, focusing on possible overloading or driver error. The highway remained partially closed for several hours as debris was cleared and traffic was rerouted.
Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution on the busy inter‑state route, especially where heavy commercial vehicles are involved, to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
