A fact‑checking agency confirmed that three videos shared on social media were not recordings of the recent China‑India border confrontation in Arunachal Pradesh.
Social media platforms have been flooded with short clips claimed to depict a fresh China‑India face‑off along the Arunachal Pradesh frontier. The posts, many of them accompanied by sensational captions, suggested that Indian troops were engaged in a live confrontation with Chinese forces.
The fact‑checking outlet examined the metadata, visual cues and the background sounds of each clip. It found that the videos were either taken from older training exercises, unrelated border patrols in other regions, or stock footage unrelated to any recent incident. None of the recordings contained timestamps or geolocation data that could link them to the alleged standoff.
Indian defence officials have not reported any new skirmish in the area, and the Ministry of External Affairs reiterated that diplomatic channels remain open to resolve border issues. The agency warned that such mis‑labelled content can inflame public sentiment and urged users to verify sources before sharing.
