Search teams on the fourth day of the operation in Uttarakhand have located a tent and the trekkers' bags, but the eight missing hikers remain unaccounted for.
A group of eight trekkers went missing in the high ranges of Uttarakhand earlier this week, prompting a multi‑agency rescue operation. By the fourth day of the search, teams from the state disaster management force, the Indian Army and local volunteers were still combing the rugged terrain for any sign of the climbers.
On day four, rescuers reported spotting a tent and several backpacks that are believed to belong to the missing party. The items were found near a known trekking route, but no footprints, personal effects or bodies were recovered alongside them.
Authorities said the search will continue through the night and into the next day, employing aerial surveillance and ground patrols. Families have been urged to remain patient as officials work to locate the trekkers and determine the circumstances of their disappearance.
