British singer‑songwriter Ed Sheeran will lend his voice to the soundtrack of Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film ‘King’, a collaboration that emerged after a meeting at the actor’s Mumbai residence, Mannat.
British pop icon Ed Sheeran has confirmed his first Bollywood playback singing assignment, joining the music team of Shah Rukh Khan’s highly anticipated film "King". The collaboration marks a rare crossover for the Grammy‑winning artist, who is best known for chart‑topping hits such as "Shape of You" and "Perfect".
The partnership originated during a visit to Mannat, the Mumbai mansion of Shah Rukh Khan, where the two parties discussed the possibility of Sheeran contributing a song to the film’s soundtrack. Sources say the meeting led to a swift agreement, and Sheeran’s involvement was announced shortly thereafter.
"King" is slated to be a major release later this year, featuring SRK in the lead role. While details of the track remain under wraps, industry observers note that Sheeran’s global appeal could broaden the film’s reach beyond traditional Bollywood audiences.
The move underscores a growing trend of international artists collaborating with Indian cinema, reflecting the industry's expanding global footprint.
