The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has prohibited the use of a specific make of power banks on all flights to, from, and within India following incidents of battery fires.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a directive banning a specific make of power banks on all commercial flights operating to, from, and within India. This regulatory move comes in response to safety concerns regarding battery fires associated with the device.

The ban is effective immediately for all flights under the jurisdiction of Indian civil aviation. Passengers are advised to check the branding of their portable chargers before boarding to ensure compliance with the new safety guidelines.

The DGCA emphasized that the primary objective of this restriction is to enhance passenger safety and prevent potential in-flight hazards. Airlines and ground staff have been instructed to enforce this ban strictly at check-in counters and during security checks.

Travelers carrying the prohibited make of power banks may be asked to surrender the device or leave it behind, as it cannot be carried in either cabin or checked-in baggage.
