Cyclone Murasu swept across the coastal belt of Andhra Pradesh, causing extensive damage to homes, infrastructure and power supplies.
Cyclone Murasu moved in from the Bay of Bengal and struck the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh today, bringing heavy rains and strong winds. The system intensified as it approached the shoreline, tearing through villages and towns along the seafront.
The cyclone left a trail of destruction, with many houses damaged or flattened, road networks disrupted and power lines downed across the affected area. Flooding was reported in low‑lying zones, further hampering movement and access to essential services.
State authorities have mobilised disaster‑response teams to conduct damage assessments and to distribute relief supplies. Emergency shelters have been set up for displaced residents, while restoration of electricity and water services is being prioritized.
Meteorological officials continue to monitor the remnants of Murasu as it moves inland, warning that additional rain showers may persist over the next 24 hours.
