The India Meteorological Department has warned that Cyclone Arnab will bring unseasonal rainfall to parts of South Gujarat and the Saurashtra region later this week.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has tracked Cyclone Arnab as it moves westward across the Arabian Sea, maintaining a moderate intensity as it approaches the Gujarat coastline. Forecast models indicate that the system will make its closest approach to the southern part of the state within the next 48 hours, bringing a surge of moisture from the sea.

Meteorologists expect unseasonal rain showers to affect districts such as Valsad, Navsari, Surat and the broader Saurashtra region, including Rajkot and Jamnagar. Rainfall could begin late Thursday night and continue into Friday, with the IMD warning of localized heavy downpours that may exceed typical monsoon patterns for this time of year.

State authorities have issued advisories urging residents to stay alert, secure loose objects, and avoid low‑lying areas prone to waterlogging. The Gujarat Disaster Management Authority (GDMA) has readied emergency response teams and is monitoring river levels to mitigate any flooding risk. Motorists are cautioned to drive carefully on highways that may become slippery due to sudden showers.
