Party leader Adhir Chowdhuy said the Congress is intensifying efforts to recapture its declining presence across the Northeast states.

Congress leader Adhir Chowdhuy told reporters that the party is actively working to restore its lost ground in the Northeast region of India. He highlighted that recent electoral setbacks have prompted a strategic reassessment aimed at reconnecting with voters in states such as Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, and others.
The party’s decline in the region has been attributed to a combination of local issues, competition from regional allies, and the growing influence of rival national parties. Chowdhuy noted that Congress is reviewing its candidate selection, grassroots outreach, and policy messaging to address these challenges.
To regain relevance, Congress plans to launch a series of rallies, youth engagement programs, and issue‑based campaigns focused on unemployment, infrastructure, and cultural preservation. The leadership also intends to strengthen coordination with state units to ensure a unified approach ahead of upcoming elections.
Chowdhuy expressed confidence that a renewed focus on regional aspirations will enable the party to rebuild its support base and play a decisive role in the political dynamics of the Northeast.
