The recent Bihar Legislative Council election saw the NDA alliance capture half of the eight contested seats, while two independents, Jan Suraj and the Rashtriya Janata Dal each secured one seat.
The Bihar Legislative Council election concluded with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) emerging as the largest winner, securing four out of the eight seats that were up for contest. The result reflects the alliance's continued influence in the state's upper house.
Two independent candidates also succeeded, each winning a seat and signalling voter openness to non‑party candidates in certain constituencies. Their victories were confirmed alongside the party wins.
The Jan Suraj party and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) each captured one seat, adding to the fragmented composition of the council. Election officials indicated that formalities such as oath‑taking and certification will continue in the coming days.
Overall, the outcome underscores a mixed political landscape in Bihar, with the NDA holding a plurality while smaller forces retain a foothold in the legislative council.
