Opposition leaders Umang Singhhar and former minister Arun Yadav criticised the BJP’s decision to nominate Hardeep Singh Puri from Madhya Pradesh for the Rajya Sabha, questioning the party’s motives.
The Bharatiya Janata Party’s recent announcement naming Hardeep Singh Puri as its Rajya Sabha candidate from Madhya Pradesh has drawn sharp rebuke from opposition quarters.
Congress leader Umang Singhhar took to the podium to ask why the party had chosen a Madhya Pradesh seat for Puri, suggesting the move reflects a calculated political strategy rather than merit.
Former Union Minister Arun Yadav also voiced strong objections, linking the ticket allocation to what he described as the BJP’s broader attitude towards women and girls.
The criticism arrives as the Rajya Sabha elections approach, with both the BJP and Congress positioning themselves for a contested battle in the central legislative chamber.
As of now, the BJP has not issued a formal response to the accusations, leaving the political discourse in Madhya Pradesh increasingly charged.
