BJP accuses Rahul Gandhi of sowing confusion over SIR and insulting Election Commission

According to the BJP, the remarks not only muddied the understanding of the SIR but also undermined the authority of the Election Commission, which is tasked with overseeing free and fair elections. The party urged the Election Commission to take appropriate action against what it described as a deliberate attempt to tarnish the institution’s credibility.

The Election Commission has not yet issued a response to the BJP’s allegations. Rahul Gandhi’s office also declined to comment on the matter at the time of reporting. The episode adds to the ongoing political friction between the ruling party and the opposition ahead of upcoming electoral contests.
