Bihar to Fill Over 11,000 Health Posts Including Staff Nurses and Lab Technicians

The Bihar health department is preparing to restore more than 11,000 vacant positions, ranging from staff nurses to lab technicians, with an official recruitment notice expected in the last week of November.
The health ministry of Bihar has announced a large‑scale recruitment drive aimed at reinstating over 11,000 sanctioned posts across the state's public health system. The initiative covers a spectrum of roles, from staff nurses who provide bedside care to laboratory technicians responsible for diagnostic testing.
According to departmental sources, the vacancies emerged from a combination of retirements, resignations and earlier recruitment delays. By refilling these positions, the government hopes to strengthen primary health centres, district hospitals and specialised labs that have been operating with staffing shortfalls.
The official advertisement is slated to appear in the last week of November, after which interested candidates will be invited to submit applications online. Selection will follow the standard merit‑based procedure, including written examinations and skill assessments, as prescribed by the state's recruitment rules.
