The government has moved 30 companies of central forces to Arunachal Pradesh as protests over the Siang dam intensify.

New Delhi ordered the deployment of thirty companies of central paramilitary forces to Arunachal Pradesh to address escalating protests against the proposed Siang dam project. The move aims to bolster security and prevent any disruption to public order in the region.
The protests, led by local communities and environmental groups, have been centered on concerns that the dam could affect the river ecosystem and displace residents. Demonstrators have been gathering near the dam site and along key access routes, demanding a halt to construction.
Authorities said the additional forces will assist the state police in maintaining law and order, safeguarding infrastructure, and ensuring that any clashes remain contained. The deployment underscores the sensitivity of large‑scale infrastructure projects in ecologically fragile Himalayan states.
