प्रारंभिक पहचान के महत्व पर वरिष्ठ मेडिकल ऑन्कोलॉजिस्ट डॉ. यशवंत कश्यप कहते हैं, “कैंसर के उपचार में इसकी शुरुआती पहचान बेहद महत्वपूर्ण है, क्योंकि बीमारी किस अवस्था में सामने आती है, इसका सीधा असर उपचार के विकल्पों और परिणामों पर पड़ सकता है। इसलिए नियमित जाँच और जागरूकता के माध्यम से कैंसर की पहचान शुरुआती चरण में करना आवश्यक है। इसी दिशा में केंद्र ने छत्तीसगढ़ और आसपास के क्षेत्रों के ग्रामीण एवं शहरी समुदायों में 500 से अधिक कैंसर जाँच और जागरूकता कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए हैं।
