A carpenter working on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film 'Love & War' has died, with initial reports suggesting an electric shock. The production house has offered ₹40 lakh compensation to the deceased's family.
A carpenter, Chandradhari Yadav (42), lost his life on the Mumbai set of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming film 'Love & War' in the early hours of June 17. The incident occurred at Royal Pump Studio in Goregaon East. While the post-mortem report is awaited for a definitive cause, preliminary information points towards an electric shock, possibly due to a short circuit.
Union representatives from the Film Studio Setting and Allied Mazdoor Union (FSSAMU) stated that Yadav had been working extended hours for several days, including from 7 am to 3 am on the day of the incident. Following the tragedy, the Film Studio Setting and Allied Mazdoor Union (FSSAMU) and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) approached the film's producers.
The production house has reportedly offered a compensation of Rs 40 lakhs to Yadav's family, who are survived by his wife and two daughters. However, union officials are seeking further assurances, including support for the education of Yadav's children and employment for his wife, emphasizing the need for better worker safety and adherence to working hour regulations.
