Women in Bamhori-Silwani road blocked traffic for nearly seven hours after three months without ration, ending after MLA promised two months of ration.
Women in the Bamhori-Silwani corridor of Madhya Pradesh staged a blockade on Wednesday, halting traffic for nearly seven hours due to a persistent ration shortage that had left them without supplies for three months.
The protest began when local residents, predominantly women, gathered at a shop on the road and placed a lock on the entrance, demanding immediate distribution of government ration kits.
According to local sources, the block remained in place until a Member of Legislative Assembly visited the site and assured the community that two months’ worth of ration would be delivered, prompting the protesters to lift the blockade.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns over the timely provision of subsidised food items in rural Madhya Pradesh, with authorities now under pressure to follow through on the promised deliveries.
