A wild elephant entered a residential neighbourhood in Maher late at night, wandering for hours before moving towards Old Ramnagar, prompting police and forest officials to issue alerts and advise residents to stay indoors.
Late at night, a lone wild elephant was sighted entering a residential colony in Maher, Madhya Pradesh, causing immediate alarm among the locals. The animal roamed the streets for several hours, moving from the Satna Camp area towards the older part of Ramnagar, unsettling residents who were forced to stay awake throughout the ordeal.
Local police, together with the state forest department, quickly mobilised teams to monitor the elephant's movements. Loudspeakers were deployed across the neighbourhood, urging people to remain inside their homes and avoid any confrontation with the animal.
Authorities have kept the area under heightened surveillance, with forest officials prepared to intervene if the elephant attempts to re-enter densely populated zones. As of now, the animal appears to be heading away from the residential stretch, and no injuries have been reported.
