A whale that washed ashore on Mandrem Beach in Goa was rescued by local authorities and released back into the Arabian Sea, according to NDTV footage.
A large marine mammal was found stranded on the sands of Mandrem Beach in North Goa early Monday morning. Local fishermen and beach‑side officials quickly cordoned off the area and called the state’s wildlife rescue team.
The rescue unit, equipped with inflatable stretchers and a small boat, managed to lift the animal onto a specially designed carrier. After a brief health assessment, the whale was guided back into the water, where it swam away under the watch of onlookers.
Authorities said the swift response prevented potential injury to the animal and avoided any public safety concerns. The incident highlights the importance of coordinated coastal monitoring in the region.
NDTV captured the entire operation on video, showing the whale’s brief interaction with rescuers before it disappeared into the sea. No injuries were reported among the rescuers or the public.
The state forest department reiterated its readiness to intervene in similar wildlife emergencies and urged citizens to report any stranded marine life promptly.
